The Story:

Projects are increasingly complex. An experienced Project Team is essential to provide innovative solutions that turn architectural dreams into reality. It was definitely the case for this tech giant's outdoor patio.

The architectural designer had a creative vision for this outdoor space -- and DPR had an aggressive schedule. Early-on in the project cycle, we met with the general contractor, the designer, and the engineer of record to review the plans for constructability. This was key as we quickly determined that an adjustment to the type of structural beam supports were needed for ease of constructability and to meet the project’s schedule. We simplified the attachment, setting, and placement of the structural supports all while maintaining the sleek design intent. Next, we created templates for the concrete form work and secondary templates for locating and setting the vertical structural steel. Our control of the overall geometry allowed us to begin fabrication while footings were still being poured.

By working together early on in this project, we saved several months on the overall schedule and kept many faces smiling.
