Cisco's headquarters in San Jose spreads over 43 expansive buildings, many of which are undergoing makeovers to reflect their worldwide connectedness. Each building is being transformed with a unique global identity, and for this building, worked on with Novo Construction and Interior Architects (SF), a tropical atmosphere was the design of choice.

In the relaxation areas, tables enclosed by interwoven wooden slats take Cisconians to an exclusive tropical getaway. Extending out from the islander print graphic on the wall, these wooden slats make each table their very own island lounge. Similar wooden planks are artfully placed in the reception area’s ceiling, giving the space a tropical fluidity that aligns the rest of the building.

The redesign is centered on reconnecting employees with a sense of calm. By incorporating materials with subtle distinctions, like soft colored wood, this idea of calm ties the space together.
